in their own words
Hey it's ya bird!!! (aka Emibyrd aka Emi DeLia) I'm an award-winning harpist, singer-songwriter, producer, and composer who has been making music for as long as I can remember. With my four-octave vocal range, virtuosic harp riffs, and vibrant electronic tracks, I can tell you compelling stories of the world as I see it. I've won numerous scholarships and awards for voice, harp, and composition, including the Paul W. Hofreiter Scholarship, the inaugural MATA Jr., and a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Ever since I was a child, I've been told had a natural gift for music. I performed on stage for the first time when I was 4 years old and haven't stopped performing since. I premiered my first large work at the age of ten, an 8-part choral piece called "That's What Christmas Is to Me," performed in three concerts by the renowned VOICES Chorale. That same year, I gained worldwide recognition with my song "Touch the Sky," a tribute to the 2011 Japan Tsunami/Earthquake victims. I also played in multiple orchestras and ensembles, but solo performances are where I thrive the best!
When I was 7, I first discovered the harp at an Early Music Festival in Hamilton, NJ. After the concerts, the Guild for Early Music held an "instrument petting zoo." It was there that a tiny historical harp was placed in my lap, and I instantly fell in love. After bugging my parents about it non-stop for months, I received a small 22-string for Christmas, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Little Emi’s 1st Harp
In 2018 I attended the Global String Summer Program at Berklee College of Music. I was soon invited to audition for Berklee, later that year, and was excepted on a full scholarship. I've had so many memorable experiences at Berklee, including hosting a show on the Berklee Internet Radio Network (BIRN) entitled “Lemme Have Some Emi!!” On the show, I'd blast my favorite pop, rock, R&B, and dance tunes and discuss topics such as musician life, queer life, and college life. I graduated from Berklee in 2022, a year earlier than anticipated, with a Bachelor of Music in Professional Music: concentrates in Performance, Songwriting, and Contemporary Writing and Production.
Emi’s First Day at Berklee
I released my first album “Lift” in 2016, and two singles, "Revolutionary" and "Dreamin'" in 2017. I released my second album “Shining-Colored World” in 2020 and my third album "Forbidden Love Songs" in 2024, along with multiple singles. Many of the songs I write include themes of self-acceptence, social justice, and the complexity of human relationships. You can find my music on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and all major streaming platforms. Enjoy! eeah 💅
